Our History
Milestones from the first idea in 1987 to the present day.
- 1987
The idea is born
A group of IIUM students propose an alumni body during the Ibadah Camp in Port Dickson. The proposal is adopted unanimously.
- 1997
Official registration
On 11 July 1997 the IIUM Alumni Association is registered with the Registrar of Societies.
- 1997
First Annual General Meeting
The inaugural AGM on 8 December 1997 sets the foundation, with Dr. Sabirin Jaafar leading the pioneering committee.
- 2008
Broadening reach
Under Dato’ Seri Mohamed Naina Merican, the Association expands its collaborations and humanitarian work, including a Palestinian relief fundraiser.
- 2010
A new dawn
Tuan Hj. Khalek Awang is elected President at the 2010 AGM, renewing the Association’s commitment to its founding ideals.
